Maria Hudgins is the newest addition to the Mutt Mysteries pack. An accomplished author and pet lover, she is a tremendous asset to our lineup. Her story "At Your Service" will warm your heart. But first, let's learn a little more about Maria and her cat Lulu.
Tell us about the furry
members of your family? My current fluff is Lulu. She's a 14-year-old
snowshoe cat. (Think: Grumpy Cat with a sweet expression) Lulu is a rescue. She
was living with a family who had to give her up because they had a child with
behavior problems. Lulu has pretty blue eyes and she purrs very loudly. She's
afraid of dogs.
What do you do to you spoil
your pets? I give Lulu
"Brushing Bites" as treats. Since they are theoretically good for her
teeth, I give four of them to her whenever she asks. She asks by sitting in
front of my chair and staring at me. She jumps on my bed in the morning and
sits on my chest. I let her do this.
What treat will your pet
practically knock you over to get? As I said, she loves "Brushing Bites" She doesn't like
"people food" which is good, because it's not the best thing for cats
anyway.
What food item will your pet
turn up his/her nose to? Steak.
She hates beef
What is your pet’s favorite
thing to do? Sitting and
looking out the side windows by the front door. Watching cat videos on YouTube
What is your pet’s LEAST
favorite thing to do? She
doesn't like the vet.
Do you talk to your pets?
And if so, do they answer? Absolutely.
All the time. She doesn't answer me, but she remembers the things I tell
her.
Is the dog in your story in To
Fetch a Villain based on your dogs? The dogs are based on two Bichons I had up until five years ago.
Where did you get your idea
for your story? Who knows
where ideas come from? I don't.
How long did it take you to
write your story? About a
week
What makes your pet’s tail
wag? Cat's don't wag their
tails, but they purr to let you know they are happy.
What makes your tail
wag? Lulu. Writing a story
I'm proud of.

I can just picture Maria Hudgins trying to get Lulu into a cage or into the car some other way for a trip to the vet! Yikes!
