MUTT TALK: Meet Top Dog Oliver from "The Fast and the Furriest" by Heather Weidner

We’ve turned the blog over to the Mutts. The stars of To Fetch a Scoundrel, Four Fun “Tails” of Scandal and Murder interview their canine counterparts. Ruckus, pictures on the right, was the model dog for Heather's story. Read on to learn more about this handsome fellow.

Tell us your name, breed, and which story you appear in. My name is Oliver, and I’m in Heather Weidner’s “The Fast and the Furriest.”

Give us four words that describe you and your personality. Loyal, Dedicated, Focused, Protector.

What is your job in the story? I am the Director of Security at the Amelia Raceway. I keep watch on the office and make sure everyone behaves.

Tell us about your favorite thing to do. I love to go to work with my friend Cassidy. I love snacks. Pizza is my favorite. And I enjoy long walks around the racetrack.

What do you always help your human with? I am security at the racetrack. Nobody gets by me. I have a nose for sniffing out trouble.

What is your favorite food/snack? I’m not too picky. I guest my favorite are steak, pizza, and cheese.

What is something you won’t touch with a ten-foot pole? There’s not much I won’t touch. I’ve very curious, especially if I think it’s food.

Where is your special place for napping? I have a bed in the office at the racetrack. I hang out there most days.

What do you do when your humans aren’t home? The entire couch is mine when Cassidy isn’t home.

Do you have a secret vice? (Don’t worry, we won’t tell your humans…) I like to drain cans and cups that are left in the office trashcan. Iced coffee is my favorite.

The mutts are ready to run free on the beach! If the authors of To Fetch a Scoundrel would only unleash them!   Don’t worry, we will. On March 3 rd . Until then, this series of posts is digging deep into the reason the author set their story in a specific location, followed by the first few pages of the story to give you a taste of things to come! Today’s feature… “PAWSITIVELY SCANDALOUS” by Jayne Ormerod We asked Jayne where her story is set, and why she chose that location: Thanks to my husband’s career as a naval officer, I’ve spent the majority of my adult life living near a significant body of water. There’s something about sandy toes and sea breezes that sooth a troubled soul.
